Session Summary

Amidst a blaring ship alarm and whisps of smoke, the group stands in the now ruined cargo bay of the CMS Last Hope, moving quickly to secure the area before moving further into the ship. A clever application of hacking and a cunning plan in which Baloo bravely takes all of the damage so everyone else can retaliate see the group securing the bridge of the ship, though not without some collateral damage in the process.

The now malfunctioning navigation console sees the ship making a wild FTL jump with no destination in check. As the group begins to quickly discuss their options, Greg simply kills the engine and through cosmic luck or happenstance manage to not drop out of FTL in the middle of a star. After some communications and deliberations, the group finds themselves speeding off towards the planet Hemia to deliver the newly secured ship to a shady contact known as Zisk

A group of unlikely wanna-be Mercs rendevous at a shady subcontractor for MercNet, hoping to get a profile created on the illustrious privateering site. Paired with a Senior Operative, the group is sent off to the spaceport to find a pilot waiting to take them to the last known location of Cookie's ship - lost by the previous group of Mercs he was vetting.

After a somewhat bumpy ride to their destination, the group performs some risky zero-G maneuvers to cross the distance of open space between their transport and target, arriving to the CMS Last Hope with a thud. Attempting a stealthy entry, the group is discovered by the small cadre of space goblins that are in the cargo bay, causing an ensuing battle to break out and starting the group's first test as a Merc Squad.

Draven and Flora work on the panel in the room to shut off the alarm going off on the ship. They turn on the barricades which are half walls going throughout the ship to help provide cover moving through the ship. Greg hits the security shutters button and closes the door as Fry is trying to get out of it. Fry makes a reflex save and comes back in the room before the door closes on her. Flora and Draven tried to fix it through the panel but failed hacking it. Fry takes 20 minutes to hack the panel and gets access to everything on the entire ship and wires herself into the system with her mind and has control of the ship. She also finds where they put a virus into the whole system and disables and quarantines the virus to stop it from affecting the ship, cuts life support to the whole ship, then finds the map and relays it to the whole ship. Everyone makes their way out of the cargo bay and then closes the cargo bay door and artificial gravity kicks back in. We make our way to the engineering room and see the faster than light drive. The fuel tank is halfway full, and the quantum tank is all the way full. Fry cuts off everyone's access to the drive. Then we head to the bridge with Joe leading us in. ROLL INITIATIVE! Come up on 2 goblins behind barricades, one with basically a machine gun and another with a laser pistol. Baloo kills the goblin with the laser pistol. The goblin with the big gun starts lighting up Greg, Joe, and Baloo. Joe tries to knock the gun out of his hand and fails. Draven also tries to attack him and fails. Everyone is trying to attack this goblin and keeps missing. Finally, Joe swings low on the last goblin, he jumps over it and jumps up into Draven’s axe and gets decapitated. END OF INITIATIVE! Draven picks up the laser pistol and Baloo picks up the machine gun. We continue to move forward into the Bridge. Joe leads us in, and we walk into a whole lot of Goblins in the Bridge. They start blasting at Joe and he gets hit. BACK INTO SAME INITIATIVE! Fry gives Bender a concussion grenade to go into the room with towards the goblins. Bender fails the reflex throw and gets blown to pieces but blows the chair into one of the goblins and knocks him prone. Baloo walks into the doorway and does cloud array. Greg uses intimidation and makes one of the goblins fall to the ground and submit, basically making him surrender. The goblins shoot up Baloo badly. Greg shot 2 of the goblins killing them. Baloo starts to spray and pray killing another goblin and then uses one of his nanite surges to start healing himself. Baloo takes shots and falls forward unconscious. Joe kills one of the other goblins, Draven kills the one begging for his life. Fry finally walks into the room to assess what is going on and attacks the last goblin guarding the console and shoots him straight in the dome killing him. END OF INITIATIVE! When the console was shot, it short circuited the drive and is about to kick in. The ship then kicks into FTL and does a random jump, and we have no clue where we’re going. Flora brings Baloo back to consciousness. While Fry and Draven are trying to figure out what to do about the shipping blowing into random space, Greg just kills the engine. The ship stops but we do not vaporize and are out in the middle of space, nothing to see around us besides a few stars. The computer then reboots and tries to determine where we are, which takes hours, so everyone starts searching the bodies and crates. Baloo takes 3 junk laser batteries and Draven takes 2. 3 smoke, 3 concussions, 10 frags, 1 anti-gravity were found in crates. Also found 6 healing serums which Flora takes. Baloo takes the anti-gravity grenade, Greg takes 3 frag grenades, Fry takes 7 frag grenades, Flora takes 3 concussion grenades. Found 500 in credits which we all split evenly. Once we finish searching everything, we call Cookie. Cookie then gives us our official induction into Mercnet for successfully completing the mission andmtransfers our credits. Cookie gives us a contact named Zisk on the planet Hemia as a person to get good paying jobs from. Cookie then tells us to take the ship to Zisk to pay back the debt that Cookie owes him. Tells us to go to the main customs portal office on Hemia to ask for Zisk and not to mention Cookie’s name. Eventually, the ship calculates and pings where we are. We set a course in for Hemia, takes 3 days, have plenty of fuel and provisions. We head for there. Fry starts picking up the pieces of Bender. Everyone levels up to LVL 2. During the span of 3 days, we took the truck off the hole and that is now our truck. End of sesh.
