Session Summary

Reven, a town of endless possibilities, bolstered by the large farming community it harbors, proved to be one of our most challenging locales yet.

Upon arriving in the town, the corageous group of adventurers made their way swiftly to the city hall, happening upon the local steward of the town - known as Daydream - and proffering our services to help them with the grave robbing that had been happening over the past few weeks.

With time to spare until nightfall, the group set about taking care of some long overdue business. Purchasing a pair of fine steeds to replace the loyal but admittedly slow paced donkeys, the silver tongued leader of the group, Seek, sold the pair of well worn asses for a tidy sum of gold.

Afterwards, the group reconvened in the Anderian Star tavern, with Ashikaga pleading with the group leader to join him in a game of dice with the common man, which Seek graciously let his new found friend and subordinate Ashi win the lion’s share.

In another show of grace and compassion for his loyal followers, Seek purchased some fine company for the Adachi, the other brother, to help him ease his troubled mind and help him learn more of the ways of the world from someone more experienced.

With the deals struck, Ale purchased, and food consumed, the group held each other’s company in merriment for a time before venturing forth to the fated graveyard to confront whatever knave had been robbing the departed of their belongings and bodies.

With keen eyes and sharp wit, Seek was able to see that the graves had not been dug, but instead had been taken from below. After some shrewd negotiating by Ashi - a skill learned from his idol, Seek - the group was able to procure a shovel and put the brawn of Adachi to work excavating one of the open graves, revealing a complex series of tunnels below.

Guthred and Clover offered their lives to investigate, bringing back evidence of a Cabal of Kobalds who were carting off cadavers for what could only be nefarious and dark means. Knowing that such evil could not be left undisturbed, Seek bravely led the group down into the tunnels to fight back the thrifty thieves, eventually chasing them back to their lair deep underneath the town of Reven.

It’s here that tragedy struck. Adachi was careless, and a surprise attack from an enemy mage would surely have taken all their lives had Seek not valiantly threw himself infront of the blast, sparing his follower Adachi from a horrific fate.

Distraught by the sight of his fallen leader, Adachi drug Seek back out of the tunnels, the group racing to the nearby tavern, hearts full of worry and despair that their north star would be forever snuffed out.

Luckily, it would take more than foul magics to lay low Seek.

With overjoyed hearts the group reveled in a few rounds of ale, Adachi having his time with the mistress of the night, and the others eventually drifting away from the festivities to turn in for the night.

Eager for revenge, the group will not be easy to convince to leave dormant the sleeping evil beneath Reven, but it is for their own safety that Seek must think, and must rush them away from such horrific things before they foolishly throw their lives away, as endearing as the gesture is to reinforce their love for Seek.

Tomorrow, they will depart Reven, but even while they will put the town in their wake, the mantle of responsibility weighs heavy on Seek’s mind. The full moon comes, and with it, come dangers that none of the rest are prepared for.

Recap

Trees… Endless trees and forest stretch out before the group of stalwart adventurers as they continue on their quest. A silent pallor of dread washes over the group as the endless miles stretch on. Seek attempts to entertain the group with revelry to no avail - the hunt wears on them all.

Motion…. Guthred, with his unerring perception of the unseen world detects something trailing the group. A flurry of action ensues, Eliza scaling a tree to provide watch, Seek setting a perfect ambush nearby, the brothers and Guthred taking up the vanguard while Xasthura and clover stay with the cart.

Without warning a warforged rushed the group, quickly succumbing to the overwhelming force of a well coordinated counter attack, led by none other than the undisputed leader of the group, Seek. Two more warforged spring from the nearby bushes, and though they attacked viciously, the heroes were able to overcome the savage terrorist attack and capture one of the enemies for interrogation.

Despite expert interrogation techniques, the enemy was unwilling to break his confidence, and in the ensuing struggle to escape, Seek was forced to dispatch him. In the aftermath of the attack, the group decide to continue on towards the nearby town of Reven to undertake a more attainable mission than combatting the overwhelming force of the blades.

During the night’s watch, Seek and Ashi bonded as friends and brothers, forming a familial bond to rival that of Adachi and Ashi themselves before their watch was over. Vowing an oath to protect Seek until the end, while Seek swore to him to help him fulfill a blood debt and hunt down the man with the dragon tattoo.

In the morning, Guthred pulled Seek to the side, confiding in his closest friend that he feels a change coming on. With a level head and a heart full of compassion, Seek vows to help Guthred control his inner beast, as only his closest friend can.
