Approximately 50 years ago, the Lhusu miners on Bhujerba discovered a new mineral and gave it the name Magicite. In its raw form it emits a soft blueish glow and seems to be the purest form of natural magic that's ever been discovered. With the help of scientists from Archades, they were able to find a way to condense this magicite into what would become known as Brunstone. What they didn't know was how this would soon change the country and indeed the world of Idresiel.
832 PC, Post Calamity, (30 years ago) the first Airship, The Ifrit, was born in Archades from the Brunstone tech. However, this project was highly confidential. Only a handful of scientists and engineers ever knew of its development. Lord Solidor, King of Archades, was no fool. He understood the way of the world and that these airships would be both a blessing and a curse to his people. His city was located on the Kensay river, which connected his kingdom to the Phon coast. With close proximity to the Balfonheim Port, it was easy for him to control trade heading inland to the west. He knew that with the development of airships, it was only a matter of time before control of that trade would weaken. So, he set in motion events that would secure his cities importance, despite what the majority of the denizens of Ivalice would think of him.
836 PC. War has been declared on the Dalmascan Empire by Lord Solidor! In the 8 years since the Ifrit, the royal air navy of Archades had swelled to a total of 15. Each one was outfitted with ballista and a few even had newly developed cannons that made the use of black powder. Under the cover of night, Admiral Renato Valdex, ordered the shelling of Nabradia. In just under 8 hours, the once mighty city was nothing more than cinder and ash. In the weeks that followed soldiers would occupy the streets of Rabanastre, effectively ending the line of Dalmascan rule. Vayne Solidor, first sone of the House of Solidor, would be named Lord of Rabanastre in 838 PC, where he still currently rules with the help and guidance of his Council of Iron.
839 PC. The city of Bhurjerba firsst takes flight over Isodroean Ocean with the help of its massive Brunstone engines. King Halim Ondor has made a tentative alliance with the Archadian Empire after seeing the destruction of Nabradia. Under teh conditions that he continue to supply magicite from the Lhusu mines to Archadia, he was given the secrets to brunstone tech and sequentially airships. As a gesture of good faith, the Archadian empire helped develop massive engines large enough to life the entirety of Bhujerba out of the ocean to where it now rests, high above the clouds.
The year is now 862 PC, The country of Invalice has recently been enjoying an era of peace and prosperity. Airships abound and with it a new age of discovery! More races than ever are coexisting as societal and cultural norms shift to meet the ever growing populous of cities large enough to contain a port. While racism seems to be prominent in some cities, others have openly welcomed their new dcitizens and their way of life. With this spread of new ideals, no one can be sure what the next breakthrough in technology or magic will be
